I cross over to the other side of the Thames once again for the next leg, walking from Hammersmith to Teddington along the south bank. The drizzly weather this Sunday morning doesn't seem to put off the dozens of rowers training along this stretch of the river. Most of the path is still well maintained, though now I'm out in Zone 6 there are stretches of mud.

Up until this point the Thames has risen and fallen with the tides, but upstream of the locks at Richmond and Teddington the river becomes non-tidal ("Tide's End town" is sadly a false etymology). There are 43 more locks to pass between here and the source of the river.
